Default No brow tines

Saw a nice deer Friday evening that would have been a shooter for me but it didn't have brow tines. It was only a 6 pointer, but had nice mass, maybe 15-16" spread and nice tine length. Last week I saw a 4 pointer in the same area without brow tines. Is this genetics or can I expect these deer to get brow tines when they mature more?

We have that same problem on one of the properties I hunt. About 50% either don't have brows, or have very small ones.

I don't want to use my last buck tag for one of these misfit deer. I wonder if Illinois will issue cull tags that don't count against your 2 bucks a season. I didn't think so.

Genetics. Take him out if you get a chance. He sounds like a dominant sized buck and will probably breed does. Would be a nice buck with a bow.

I shot a nice buck Saturday that only had one brow tine. For the size of his rack the browtine he does has is small. It was a nice 15 yard shot and he went no more than 20 yards and fell over. It helped get my spirits up since I blew a easy shot at a nice 10 point that morning.

I also took one of those 6-pt miss-fits out of our herd. Where the g-1 should be, It was slick as a baby`s but?
