dont let these guys fool you, they have all made bad choices in their days of hunting, and have all went home wondering (what if i did it differently) I my self am not afraid to take a shot with a bow at 50 yards, when i tell others that i took that shot they say im one of those guys that cripple alot of deer. but in there next story they will tell me that they missed a deer at 15 to 20 yards. so whats the difference. i can hold a pie plate groupe at 60 yards. so thats my confortable range, so as far as im concerned if you feel there is bad choices being made when shooting at a deer if you ever missed or crippled a deer at any range, i guess you should just hang it up.
the biggest buck ive ever killed was a shot like yours, not using sights at all, it was a quicky, shooting instinktively. gotta love those rem. 760 pump-o-maticis.
if any one of you can tell me you never missed a deer in your life, your either a lier, or never hunted state ground where you cant set in your tree house with the heater on, and wait for the deer to enter your window or feed pile.

"Aiming from the hip"? I've heard the term many times. What you did in lamens terms is you just pointed the gun at your target and shot. It's a classic rookie mistake , I've done the same thing when I was starting out. Now you know the importance of taking that extra second or two to actually aim at your target!
