Default Youth Bow?

I would like to find a youth bow for my 5 yo son. I don't think he can draw 20 lbs which is the draw weight on all the youth bows that I have looked at.
He is also left handed.
Any suggestions?

I got my son a lil-sioux bow when he was 6, he is now 9 and is shooting like a pro. I'll have to get him a new one next year though, but I'll stick with traditional still until he gets a little older. Then MAYBE I'll get him some training wheels.

I bought my step-son a Hoyt hmmm I think it's called a banshee?? Maybe..? But anyway it has 2 sets of cams one set is like 15-25 lbs and then the other set makes it able to go up to 40 lbs.

Now he is older than your son as he was 10 when I bought it, but he is the classic smallest kid in the class, type.

Before that He had one of those cheapo compounds that you can find at DIcks. It was good to get his feet wet and pretty accurate. It was a light draw weight, maybe 10-15 lbs. Of course we had to Mickey Mouse it so he could shoot left handed.

Mathews genesis, I got one for my 5 year old son it goes down to about 10 pounds and up to 20. Has no draw length like a long bow but able to outfit it with real sights, peep sight, whisker biscuit, and release. he has problems pulling it back still but is getting better each day.

The price is alittle high for a 5 year old but he will be able to shoot it until he gets into a regular bow. My wife also shoots it. I can shoot it as well. With no draw length it is easy for anyone to use.

I gave a Mathews Genesis to my little girl when she truned 6. she's 7 now and still shooting it. Genesis is sold under other names besides Mathews but it's still the same bow. It adjust from 10-20 lbs. It was smoothest drawing kids compound I could find. She can't hunt with it (Ohio has 40lb min) but it will get her ready for a hunting bow latter on. My 2 year old has a bow I made out of PVC pipe and string. He shoots arrows across the yard and gets tickled to death. They both enjoy their little bows. Jim
