Default Youth Bow

Looking for a quality adn versitle bow for my 8 year old son. Something he can grow into and with. Looking at the Hoyt Banshee right now, I think the Bowtech Rascal is out of our price range, then there is the PSE Spyder. Who has some experience with any of these or other youth bows that could be a hunting bow as a youngster. thanx.

I kill it, I grill it.

I'm buying my daughter the rascal it's a very good bow. With 20pd limbs and using a jazz arrow it spits out at 161fps.Like it says,it's not a toy.Plus I can change to a 30 or 40pd limb and keep the same riser. But I let her shoot all the bows for kids and the rascal felt good to her.If the kids shoot a bow that they don't feel comfortable they will not want to be in this sport for long.So if you can let your son pick out whats best for himself,You'll appreciate it in the long run.But I'm glad to hear another next generation coming in the archery world. It's great when families come together when doing something that we all enjoy. It builds special relationships that go beyond just family time. But remember to make it fun and not to serious with them at first.Does he hunt with you too?

Right on bt! Yes my son enjoys archery very much. He likes the Hoyt Banshee, right now the price is right. The Rascal looks like a sweet bow, but the price is a little much for his budget. Currently we are in IL, when he can shoot 40#'s he can hunt, but we are moving back to Maine where 10 is the age, and 35#'s is the min. weight.

Thanks for your info folks...we are going to a bowtech dealer about an hour and a half away to shoot the rascal on Monday...I'll let you know how it goes. Not as pricy as I thought.

We came, he shot, he purchased a bowtech rascal with 30# limbs - with his own money! WOW! what a bow! He's as happy as a lark. I put an extra Montana Black Gold sight that I had on it, he wanted a wisker biscuit, and he has a smile as big as the sky. His arrow of choice is the Gold Tip Falcon.

I kill it, I grill it.
