rattling,grunting,bleating etc.
I have been bow hunting for about five years with moderate success. I am looking for advise on the use of grunt calls, rattling, doe bleats and scents. I have used all, but don't know if I'm seeing/killing deer because of the tactics,or inspite of them. I have had deer respond favorably to a grunt call after I had seen the deer. I will typically set up my climbing stand in a favorable location and wait for an hour or two at dawn or dusk. If I don't see anything, I go for my "bag-o-tricks".This kind of feels like a desperation move, kind of being proactive instead of reactive. I would appreciate any useful information. Thanks

RE: rattling,grunting,bleating etc.
There is a right time and wrong time i think for all calls. The grunt seems to work year round just for the simple fact deer are curious by nature and are social animals.Rattling on the other hand to me is not wise till pre-rut for the simple fact the deer know that is not normal to be fighting in the first of oct.Dont use doe in heat scent unless the rut is within a week or 2 the bucks no when the does go in to heat so to basically to sum this up for ya try to think like a deer and do the thing that would be natural for the deer to smell or hear at the right time of the year.I hope this helps ya some iam bo no means an expert but i do have 20yrs+ under my belt hunting deer lol.Good Luck!!
