Default If you were to fall off of your climber......

....and be so lucky to be wearing a body harness, how would you get back to the ground?

Happened to me using my TreeSuit (after my platform broke away), and I ended up slipping out of it and wrapped my arms around the tree and slid horribly down the bark; bruised I was and scared when I finally fell the last 8' of tree in a controlled fall/jump. I made it.

But, if your 20' up and fall off of your climber, and the climber falls away, how are you going to get down. Any techniques?

Kindest Regards,

If your climber falls away you would grab hold of the tree with your arms and legs and then cut your harness away. At that point you would start to shimmy down the tree using your arms and legs......

theoretically you should never actually fall out of your climber, if you configure the harness and saftey rope properly it will prevent you from falling completely out.

now if the climber were to fail and fall out from under you then that would be a different story. you would probably end up sliding down the trunk to the ground.

it would depend on what exally happened.I had one fall from under me years ago when I was a lot younger and more agaile.I took my gun and hung it on a limb in another tree.I took my rope that I pull my gun up with and rope a smaller sweetgum tree about 15 feet away, it was about 4 to 5" at the top where I was, pulled it over to me , locked my legs and one arm around it,took the other and cut away all the other stuff and rode the smaller tree to the ground and just stepped off at the dirt.
Then I had to get things together and go back up and get my gun hanging in the next tree.
Let me tell you that was some ride from about 30' up.
