Going by the moon I've read these dates:

Pre-Rut
9/26 - 10/21

Seeking Phase
10/24 - 11/1

Chase Phase
10/30 - 11/8

Breeding Phase
11/4 - 11/18

Thats right in line with what I was figuring based on moon phase and past experience. I figured breeding to begin Nov 1st.

Didn't see anything sat. morning. Saw two does sat. evening. Heard a buck rubbing about 25 yds. away. Saw 13 does sun. morning. No shot...went back into the woods at about 40 yards.

Sat. morning saw two does and a fawn, then a coyote. I thought this is going to screw things up. Sure enough the deer paniked but my son used a fawn call and sure enough
here comes one of the does stops 25 yards and starts to blow. Now this is strange because she blows 42 times. I kid you not. I counted. Then took off. Did she think Hey where over hear come on or what. I have never seen a deer stay that long after they blow. Any ideas on what was going on.

Got one. Went to Brown County Saturday morning. Saw 11 deer total and 10 turkeys. All morning I had does all around me, which was great considering I was sitting on the ground with no blind. Got to love the leafy suit and scent control. About 9:30 all my practice paid off. I shot a 120lb. does at 25 yards. Time to chase the big boys. Funny thing is I saw a nice 8 pointer eating corn 15 foot from the truck. Good luck to all.

You're probably right Shootem up. The real action should start in a couple weeks (weather permitting).

I got those dates off a post on this board. I can't remember who posted it. I also used what I read in "Hunting Whitetails by the Moon" and the dates coincide.

Curious why you say that?

I'm basing mine on seeing Bucks mounting Does beginning 4 days after the hunters full moon, with my own eyes, 2 years in a row. I didn't forcast peak breeding, but beginning of breeding.

The hunters moon will be showing up a week and a half earlier this year than last.

Still not sure what you mean by saw false rut??? Are you expecting it much earlier?
