There needs to be some tough action against those that kill or wound others out in the woods , it's just to easy of a thing for someone to go out and accidently or for that matter perhaps purposely wound or kill another person and litteraly get away with saying "Oh it was just an accident, i thought it was a deer or some other animal i was hunting for" and all that results is slap on the wrist.

8 to 10 years back, or so, the mind's not what it used to be, a 32 year old husband and father of 4 in Indiana was shot by a man in his early 20's with a bow. The man who took the shot was in his treestand. The man who was shot was on his way to his treestand. It was DARK!!! The young man heard the "sound of something walking and shot at it."!!! The arrow hit the man in the heart. He didn't have a chance. Had it been a deer, the arrow would have gone over its back!!!
I don't recall hearing what happened to the young man, but he and the "hunter" in MO should be banned from hunting for life, because they are felons, after they are tried for at the very least intentional homicide!!! I'm sorry, these weren't hunting "accidents".

The Sad thing about it all is the person who shot the man is probablly only going to get a 2 year hunting right suspension. It will be all up to the prosicuter. If he finds it an accident the conservation department will probabbly just suspend his hunting rights for 2 years. Other than extreme case of repeat poaching or wounding or killing someone that was not found accidental , I don't think I have ever herd of anyone losising there hunting rights more than 2 years.
It's a shame to. I think this man should loose hunting rights for life and never be allowed to own a gun or a bow again. Also I think this man should have to take years of hunter education and once he completes that he should have to teach it for life. This would show kids just how close to home accidents can happen when you do not make sure of your target.

I'm more scared of the squirrel hunters then anything. A bow hunter got shot in the leg last week here in MN. He was OK. The guy that shot him took off running. A guy from my high school was also shot by a squirrel hunter. He would have died had he not been with a buddy. That guy also took off, but they caught him.
How can you thing a person is a squirrel? I just don't understand that.
