blood trails
i have a ? on blood trails i have killed many deer over my 36 years of bow hunting.on the same hit double lung or heart shot some deer bleed good enough for a blind man to follow and some don't bleed worth a darn. my ? is when you field dress your deer some have liquid blood and some have very large clots that almost look like liver.do these deer clot on the run or can they clot after there down and laying for a couple hours.will a animal clot after it is dead or does it have to be living.

RE: blood trails
i don't know if this will help or not! i have been a meat cutter for 10 years, done kill floor all the way to the grocery shelf. During the time on the kill floor i noticed that a beef would have good flow to the neck when i stuck it right after the shot. If i did wait for more than 3 to 5 min. (usaully because it was still kicking) it would slow the flow and start to clot. Not sure but my thoughts are that as soon as the blood cools under normal body temp. it will clot. I hope this help!
