I LOVE drinking coffee but I try not to drink any before heading out or while on stand. Always worried that the smell will alarm any nearby deer when they catch wind. The problem I have is that I rely on coffee to keep me going during the day. Those early morning hunts can be aweful quiet at times. I'll lean back in my API stand and almost fall asleep sometimes. Though I've not honestly done it yet.

small poker or black jack game. You can play a hand and then look around then play another hand. Gives you something to do and keeps you alert. Seen a Texas hold em game I am going to get for this year, since espn has got me addicted to it.

In reading these threads, it got me thinking about the use of no-doze and the like medications. I believe that they are high dose caffiene (?spelling) and caffiene is a diuretic which makes you pee. When I was in the stand for bear hunting I also played hand held games and read a little. I also kept busy by counting the drumming of grouse and watching the squirrels and chimpmunks. I also just brought a bottle with a good lid to pee in and it seemed to work well.

i've done the nodoze....didnt like the feelin i had and i did pee alot....i tired redbull and a couple of others and i'm telling you .....DONT.....if you do dont go walking 2 miles at a fast pace, and that's all i'm sayin' you'll want to die right there and then......
