Dazed and Confused
#1
Im hunting a new place this year and finding it dificult to place an opening day stand. Let me describe the land. First of all its 150 acres there are 6 fields on this property and woods seperates ALL of them the fields are just grassy fields. I found a very small field in the very back of the woods. Its a weird field because its just in the middle of the woods surrounded by more woods. How should i go about scouting this place and go about picking a good stand location. A found one spot which caught my eye. Its a strip of woods in the middle of two fields. Its prolly about 300 yards wide and in it i found a nice big acorn tree producing nuts and a lil stream is running threw at the same place. I kicked a doe up there this after noon but other then that its a pretty cleared spot so im not seeing "beatin" down paths or anything. I need some advice from the more experianced hunters.

sounds to me like your best bet is to hunt the strip you found. If its cover between two fields, with water and especially big acorns, it sounds like the place to be when those acorns start hitting the ground, especially if they are white oak. Are there any agricultural fields on the prperty? if not can you plant some sort of food plot, that would be a good idea also. Good luck, and welcome aboard
