???Best Mechanicals???

I'm a firm believer in Rocket, specifically the Wolverine 3P... which is as close to a Rocket Steelhead in shape / size. My Rockets have always hit point of aim with no tuning fuss. The blades are a bit lacking in sharpness, but I've not had any trouble pushing them through the chest of whitetails out to 35 yards. Clean pass throughs at only 62 pounds of draw weight... very nice. If you like, they can be sharpened quickly with any basic kitchen style knife sharpener. (Just hold the blade with pliers and pass it through.) I can't comment on Rockets that have a cutting diameter more than 1 1/8 inch, as there hasn't been a need to change sice using the little 75 grain 3P's. If I were to go back to fixed blades, I'd shoot Muzzy. I don't plan on switching from Rocket anytime soon.

the first buck i ever drew back on, i had a complete pass-through and not one blade opened. a friend of mine had the same thing happen to him.
What I have seen ........is people mistaking the small entrance wound as them not opening .........because they do , in fact, open after about 2 inches below the hide ! I have also seen people say they didn't open because when they pulled them out of the ground the blades were shut .......which is what should happen if the blades are not bent or the groove in the ferrule are not clogged !
I garentee you that if you would have thoroughly inspected the grooves in the ferrule of the Spitfire you shot you would have found "some" tissue or blood or hair or something !! Or if you cleaned the deer yourself......you would have noticed that after entering the chest cavity that there was a big triagular cut slicing through the organs !
I just don't buy it !! I have seen 10-15 deer shot with them (including 8-9 by me) and all of them opened ...........even one that was shot by accident that was covered in dried blood .......it still opened and killed the animal in short order !!

100 gr. wasp Jackhammer
I made a bad shot on a small 8 last year, the arrow deflected off a small limb and hit the deer far back, the deer only went 20 yds and dropped. When I cleaned the deer it looked like it was hit with a 30-06, hit the liver, the devestation was tremendous.
It gets my vote.

I have used the Grim reaper mechanicals and had great luck. Last year I made a close range shot on a doe and my lower limb hit the stands rail and kicked my arrow off target. It struck hear in the hip and it drove the arrow all the way through the other hip and was sticking out about 4 inches. I was impressed with a great job on a terrible hit. I have harvested three other deer with that particulat head and have had nothing but good success.

For those that think that there blades did not open on impacked! Try this! find some type of target that when you shoot the arrow into it, the arrow will only go half way through like one of those cheaper targets that are only a couple of inch`s thick. After you shoot go look at the broadhead? It will more than likely be closed! know look at the target very well and you will see where the blade`s cut the target going through! Just about all mech heads close back after going through there target`s unless of course something keeps them from closing.
