I do alot of my hunting on public land. I hunt on a place that is bow only. But at the start of the season there are some squirell hunters in there. Do you think it would hurt me if I went in before deer season and did some squirell hunting. Does anyone have any experiences in public land such as this.
Thanks

im in maryland, i hunt with bow on public land also, that is a hard one, i myself would not gun hunt for squrells anywere near where i bow hunt for whitetails, but then again if it is public land and other people do it i would have to say what the heck go for it if someone else is going to do it it might have well be you ,,,,,,, if ya can, stay away from beding areas and areas where you put your stand, if the deer can place your sent with the boom, they may spook everytime they smell your sent, althought i have shot squrells and 2 minutes later deer walk withing 2o yards of me . so go figure ,,,, what ever you do goodluck

We (family) bowunt LOTS of Public ground but refrain from hunting anything else where we bowhunt deer.
Some of our public ground sees next to no other hunters.

Why not just set up in a natural funnel close to cover and let the squirrel hunters push deer to you? I would personally not hunt where I'm deer hunting, however I do hunt parts of my property for squirrels where the wind is just to unpredictable for deer hunting.

I hunt a funnel beside a creek and the hunters use a path right through the funnel. I did not hunt it till one month after the season started last year. I never had a problem. This year I will hunt it early in the season. I hope all goes well.
