welcome to the forums! i use bowstring wax after about every 50 shots. the brand is bohninh tex-tite i think?? it keeps the string from drying out which can lead to the string fraying. [i think, someone may be able to correct me if im wrong]

I usually wax the string before putting it on. Get as much in as possible and then wipe off excess off after installing it. Usually before the season, I'll take it off again and do the same. If needed I'll put some on during the season, but not much.

I've been doing the same , I use Hunter Specialities bowstring wax . It's kinda sticky and lasts a long time .

What's the benefit? Does it make the string last longer?

Wax also lubricates the strands in the string and keeps them from rubbing together as bad. I wax the devil out of my strings and cables once a week to make them last longer. I use a small piece of soft leather to briskly rub the wax onto the string and let the friction melt the wax so it will flow into the string easier. It also burnishes the wax and makes it more watertight.

Generally use Bohning TexTite wax, but have been known to use Black Lightning as well. That's good stuff, if you can find it. It's impregnated with silicone and graphite. Works real good for waxing the end servings that wrap around the cams and makes them last longer.

i wax mine about once a week. I use Brownell string wax. strings and cables. i rub it up and down to get the friction to heat the wax up. the guy at the pro shop said it will double average string life.
