It keeps the string from breaking down. I use Black Lighting bow wax but not nearly as much as I should. If you string feels dry its time to wax they say.

Every 3-400 shots.

I use Bohning Tex-Tite and wax whenever my string feels dry. After waxing I rub the wax in vigorously with a piece of leather. This heats the wax and allows it to penetrate deeper.

I also use the bohning wax about once a week. Living in Wyoming for the summer, I have also noticed that my string dries out quicker here than in a more humid climate like texas or oklahoma.

I use Bohning String Wax. If it's not Hunting season, I will wax it about every two weeks. During the season I wax it at least twice a week.

I use the same brands listed above and wax every couple of weeks which equates to roughly 400 or so shots.

I wax my string about 3 times a month. If theres a chance of rain and you I am going hunting I make sure to wax the snot outta it.
