And I want to Elk hunt
Getting into the back country with tons of gear is a chore and a horse is a great tool but from there on out I want to hunt the animal on me own. I just comes down to personal preference. I'm not offended by people hunting with guides. The need to make a living too.

Met Chuck Adams at a outdoor show in N.Y. this year, can this guy be anymore sarcastic and full of himself, probably not. His ego was a turnoff to anything he really said. Was so pissed that he was an aerogant , egotistical, A$$ that i left halfway through the show and went home. Sorry so personnal about it, I just can't stand the guy!

Good God!!! [&:]
You guys are ripping Chuck Adams up in this thread..... What is the purpose? I have never met him, nor know of him or know anything about him, all except I saw his name where he replied to my thread about my old PSE Edge Series 1000C bow.
The way I feel, Everyone's got more hunting skills than me. I've only been at it for 3 years (4th year coming up), and I STILL haven't gotten a deer - but had a few near misses.

have you ever met chuck. he is one of the guys that i feel gives hunting a bad name. that is when you meet him. he acts like a know it all. Almost every professional hunter/writer i have met has been extremely nice and easy to get along with. did you know that for the most part he makes his guides sign an agreement that they cannot disclose anything about one of his hunts. that leaves him pretty much free to write what he wishes. im not saying that he would make up anything because i cannot prove this. but it does make you kind of wonder why he makes his guides sign an agreement like that. chuck has a lot of experience and is a very good hunter i will give him that but he could be a lot more personal with people.

I've never meet him but would like to some day. If for no other reason then we share the same name.
I will give his him credit as he has shot some amazing animals but if what you all say about his personalty is true I'd rather not meet him. It's a shame that someone with so much influence in our sport would put themselves abouve us and not among us. If it's true I'll be very disappointed[:'(]

oh, well, i was just wondering why you posted...
i didn't see where people were talking about what a stand up guy he was, just that he was a great hunter. but, i guess you were posting that to allude to this?...
sorry, i was just confused as to why you stated that. but, now i guess i get what your point is.

Well, I have met Chuck Adams on more than one occasion. I found him to be very friendly, gracious and humble. I asked him for a picture with my kids and he came out from behind the desk where he was signing autographs, knelt down and put an arm around each of the two sons that were with me that day and smiled the famous smile you've seen in the magazines. He was more than willing to talk at length, answer questions and offer advice.
Heckuva guy and an incredible hunter from my point of view.
BTW--the place where he got his WR elk is a place he found on his own. The whole story is in this month's Bowhunting World.

Well I don't know Chuck well enough to make a judgement on him one way or another, nor do I believe does anyone else in here. His accomplishments, however, speak for themselves.
I whole heartedly agree with Adams about hunting with guides. I just don't have the desire to do so. It's not even a monetary issue. Sure my chances of killing a bull or a buck increase but my satisfaction level would go down disproportionately. I am not knocking anyone else for doing so it's just that some have different priorites than others. For some it may be all about the kill but for others it's mostly about the hunt coupled with the kill. I see the benefits of having someone there to scout etc. but for me I would rather do it myself and go home empyty handed than pay someone else and go home with a bull or buck that all I did was shoot. JMO
