When part of the season do most of you put out your decoy?

I have used decoys in sevearal occasions & different times of the year. I have had MANY deer-Bucks & Does spook, change their direction & just plain avoid them. Some Does (2 types) & then with horns. i live in an area that deer frequent my yard & have observed different deer approch my Deer target-always cautious. My one decoy is next to the house-ornament and when they come by it-they stay a good distance away. I have watched videos, talked to Mfgs. & done EVERYTHING they say. I have had 99% NEGATIVE results. It has cost me shots at TROPHY BUCKS on 3 different occassions that were coming right to me UNTIL they saw the decoy & vacated. I would still like to try but it's more bad than good from my experiences. Good Luck...

I plan on trying out a decoy this fall for the first time. On one of the farms I hunt the guy has two concrete deer like you see in alot of yards. Its not uncommon for his to see deer around it a few times a year. Keep in mind that they are 10 yards from his front door and sometimes when he wakes up in the morning there will be 2 or 3 deer standing around them eating in his yard. He even had a nice 8 point in velvet standing there last week.

I use mine throughout the entire season. Early on I leave it as strictly a doe but later in the season I use it as both buck and doe.

My dad used one last season and didn't have anything good to say about it. Normally, deer come right by his stand and last year - nothing. Now the decoy looks good in his garage.
