Is an IBO speed of 290 any good?

To put it in better terms there have been thousands of deer killed with much slower bows! As others have stated if it is for hunting it is more than fast enough.

Yea Rack from what I heard you couldn't hunt with a bow unless it shot like a rifle! J/K
And its the truth......LOL .....A fast miss is Always better than a slow hit
Someones gotta kill dirt - way to much of the stuff

We are talking about a 290 fps IBO speed not a bow that actually generates 290 fps with your hunting setup right? I would hope so because my main hunting bow does not shoot anywhere near 290 fps as I have opted for an arrow much heavier than IBO weight so I can gain a little bit of KE and momentum without sacrificing much in terms of trajectory.
Heck shoot 240 with a 450 grain arrow and you should be fine.

I say get a fast bow and tune it and your technique so that it shoots consistently. Everyone jumps on the "speed is trivial" bandwagon, but I think there are many benefits to speed. With that said, I shoot 260 FPS out of my MQ1. It's not a speed demon, but it gets the job done. If I could shoot it faster and remain consistent, I would do so in a heartbeat. Shooting straight is most important. That's my take on it.
