We have checking stations in Maryland. You fill out a field tag but don't have to attach it until you get to the road. This was on private land also. I don't have to fill in the tag until the animal is brought to "bag. I'm just approaching this kill. If you note... I haven't even touched his eye with the tip of an arrow yet.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Hey, there's a new thread... "What's with all these yahoos poking the eyeball". I'll start it.

Nice trophy, good shot. You need to think before posting pics though! Pictures with the arrow sticking out shows a lack of repect for the magnificent critter. I can just see it now, the next rally of people for the ethical treatment of vegetables will be carrying "salad stinks" posters with that photo. And guys, if you gotta put em on a windowsill, please not on the one facing the street! Try for good tasteful field photos with a minmum of juice, no seeds, no tongue sticking out and for cryin out loud pull that arrow out of there!

I really am not familiar enough with Big John to bash him yet, so I will hold off on that one. If you think Davids pic would give the anti's ammo, you should see what one looks like after a 150 grain 30-30 round goes through, you can't make V-8 or or catsup! We had a big stink down the road from me when one of the clubs did an end of season drive, they took out over 30 tomatoes and only lost one hunter. They gave the hunter a good burial, but hung the tomatoes right along the road for the world to see!!!! Man we had the anti's down here in groves, they were trying to ban V-8, spaghetti sauce, and catsup for over a month. Guys as others have said we need to present a better picture of ourselves when dealing with tomatoes, give them the respect they deserve.

um... why are chickens protected in Virginia?
I wonder if they prize them chickens for other reasons?
I spent 4 years of my life in Virginia and I thought it was for lovers. Not chicken lovers.
Anyway Nice shot on the Snappy Tomato. good pass thru vitals!

Sorry to hear that you let it get away wounded Taz. Same thing happened to me I hit a trophy class better boy just a little too far back and it rolled away. I found some seeds and a juice trail but it was getting late and I didnt want to miss dinner cause I knew the wife was making BLTs for dinner so I gave up and went home. Around here that is called Zafting. Well wouldnt you know it some farmer found what was left the next day after coons or possums had ate most of it. What was left would still qualify for the state record but there is a big debate as to if it should be considered a kill or a pickup. What do you think.
