#2 I'd rather work a little harder for that monster buck! And having been there , done that , I dont think the older equipment makes it any harder. It takes the mystique out of it when you have P&Yers running all over the place , at least for me it does. And a new setup of my choice at the end of the lease is just the icing on the cake.

Now where is this place? I'm ready to start scouting!

If we rule out what happens after the five year period then the choices involved seem to be...

a) hunt a prime area with old equipment or

b) hunt a mediocre area with new equipment

The purpose of this seems to be to separate those of us who prefer new equipment every year from those that like to use the same equipment year after year.

I choose neither as neither would allow me to buy a new bow or two every year.

How about option C?

C) Find prime habitat yourself and continue to change equipment as often as you like?

I'll throw in the free bow setup for whoever chooses "C".

change the rules. Not an unused compounds bow, but a recurve, shooting instinctive, woodies and zwickey heads.

You'd still get a lot of #1's .... but I bet there wouldn't be near the deer killed

I think i'd take #2--I don't know if i could shoot the older bows as good because i didn't start bowhunting until '98 and haven't shot a bow older than a '98 golden eagle splitfire 1--choosing #2 could end up with some wounded animals[:@][&o]

Stealth:

Acceptable option. However, there would be no handicap-related conditions granted.

A compound shooter would not have a huge advantage over a recurve or longbow when in the hands of a skilled stick and string shooter/hunter. The primary differences would be that the recurve/longbow user would know to be in a position that would provide a closer shot (0-25 yards), and he or she would have to be adept at post-hit tracking when a minimal blood trail might exist.

Then too, most recurve/longbow hunters of the past and present already had/have this knowledge and skills.

As for this statement;

…..but I bet there wouldn't be near the deer killed
I will let the recurve and longbow shooters/hunters debate that one with you.

I don't care what weapon your giving me....I'd take #1. Give me throwing knives, spears, ah hell...give me num chucks, and I'm still taking #1.

I may not take a deer for 5+ years, but after that I'm breaking out the good stuff and having fun for years to come!!!!!

Where's this land anyway, and when can I get started?
