RE: Why can't I pull more weight?
Hey PA, I'm shooting a Liberty now for 3D set at 59 lbs.
However, there was a gentleman that once posted on these forums...his screenname was Field14. I remember him mentioning on more than one occasion how he would shoot a 50 lb bow with light arrows during 3D shoots and win because all of the 70 lb shooters were showing fatigue. A pretty wise lesson could be learned there...at least from a target/3D standpoint.

Well, I can't pull much more than 60 pounds on a round wheel bow now. At 6'6" and 350, I don't have many guys calling ME a 'girly-boy.' [>:] A lot of them remember that, 15 years ago, I was shooting an 80 pound compound for field archery, regularly shot a 120 pound longbow, and had a 100 pound Martin Cougar XRG banned from the range after I broke a brand new McKenzie deer with it. The impact from that 2419 busted it off at the knees. (Those early McKenzies had spindly legs anyway.)
I had my day with heavy draw weight bows and now my shoulders are paying for it. I wish now I'd never shot over 65 pounds. Odd thing is, I get the same speed with the same arrow today with my 60 pound ProTec that I got back then with my 80 pound ProVantage.
Just something to think about, Bowman.[&:]

Must be a terrible thing getting beat by a "Sally" on the 3D range.

If your so content on your shooting abilty then why do you need more weight. Why fight it and build up your muscle to shoot more weight than sit in a tree for a few hours freezing your arse off then not even be able to draw anyway?????[8D]

Actually Newshooter I turn the Bow down to about 54 or 55lbs if I am going to be in a stand for that very reason. I would just like to build up for stalking game such as Caribou where the shot may be farther out.
