If hogs are a serious problem on your property , and you want to get rid of them seriously , you have to trap them , with multiple catch traps .

Several years ago I bought a 1 million candle power Q beam, cut the handle off and fashioned a U support that I attached to either side of the Q beam. I then removed my stabilizer and mounted it to my bow. At that point I bought a gel cell battery and put it in a fanny pack that hung at my side. I then took the cord that comes with the light and seriesed a switch between the light and Battery taped the switch on my riser so that at full draw I switched the light on Of course you will have to play to get it all where you want it but it does work.

we have traps down there but the hogs just wont go into them no matter how well we hide the trap.

The deer are not as smart as the hogs cause I have had to let deer out of the hog traps and thats after putting the no deer sign on the trap

I talked to a fella a while back that told me he bowhunts hogs at night. He used a "Nightblaster Compact" light with a red lens. He said that he would attach it to his stablizer. I've been thinking of getting this set up to for myself and my pork problems.

Also, I heard from another fella that used a battery powered (probably 12v) light, like a car headlight in conjuction with a dimmer switch. He said, that when he got ready he'd SLOWLY turn up the light and the hogs never even noticed. The light was obviously mounted to a tree or his stand.
Again, I have not tried either of these methods, but I probably will. Sounds like we both need a little hog erradication. My lease is in Woodville and we're gettin overrun also. BTW, my first bowkill was one of them darn dirt snorters back in October. He took 3 steps and fell over. It was a proud moment for me. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide.

Ausie, are you sure that statement about the laser sights applies to hogs since they are non game animals in Texas. Might be something to check into.

Also, I hanen't had any luck on your light so far, but I did think about a couple more solutions. The low voltage landscape lights have a 20-50 watt halogen flood light that you can get. You will typically see them used as up lights on the front of people's houses. I would think a couple of these attached to the marine battery would be plenty. You could alyas set them up on a switch at or near your stand so you could turn them on or off whenever you wanted to. Finding a 12 VDC motion sensor might be a little tricky.

The other thing that you could do is make some like we saw on that hog hunting site. Just get 3-4 red high intensity leds and put them in some type of housing to keep them waterproof and that should be plenty of light. Let me know if your interested in looking into either of these options. I have a brother in law who is an electronics whiz and I'm sure we all could come up with something that would work.
