it now seems pretty clear to me that the person who started this thread was mearly looking to start something (or we scared him away??) He hasn't rebutted any of our comments. It's nice to see that many of us are on the same page about this, rather foolish question/statement.

No you all haven't scared me away. Just have been real busy this week. For those who care, Mardi Gras is a live and well. The was plenty of the hardest game to hunt running around (The Bearded Clam).

Some people did get the point while most just didn't. I wrote this in response to people who don't have resources to travel and maybe can't afford a hunting lease. I wrote in response for those who want to see big deer and get a shot. I wrote for those who are getting frustrated because they aren't seeing deer. I get very bored if I don't see a deer when I go out hunting. It happen once this past year if you don't count the six I scared off on the way into the woods.

There are many ways to gain access to good deer. If you want to kill a P&Y you have to hunt where they are. I do travel all over the country and get to scout a lot of areas that I would hunt if I lived there. If your happy where your hunting then great. If your not then look for a new area. You would be surprised at where you can fine a good area.

First, look for the deer you want to kill. Then figure out how you can get access to hunt it. It's possible when you put your mind to it. I personally like to hunt residential neighborhoods and do most of my scouting there. I have hunted public lands with some success but only do that during bow season. Even those hunts can't beat a nice neighborhood.

I have shot some 130's but don't waste time with the pics or racks. We won't even shoot them until late in the season because we see huge on a regular basis. If you have read some of my other post, I have only had really three with in bow range but didn't take the shot because it wasn't there. I've had more then I can count with in gun range but I don't hunt deer with a gun eventhough a few areas I hunt I could hunt with a gun.

I only mounted one deer and wouldn't do it again, then again I probably would. I shot a pie ball and got a full mount because it was a pretty deer. Dam it was an expensive shot.

If at all possible, those who don't see P&Y class bucks every time out should try to go on a western late muley hunt. The bucks are in the rut and if the weather co-operates they will be migrating. On a typical bowhunt outside of this late hunt. No, I don't see these kind of deer on a regular basis. But on this hunt I do. What a treat. I look foward to it the whole year. The weather is usually cold and the hills are silent. The silence is broken by bucks grunting all over the hillsides. I love to watch the bucks run the hills like a bunch of hound-dogs. Noses to the ground and totally clueless to anything other than their hormones. Last year I hunted in the fog and could hear them crunching rocks and grunting all around me. I passed up several bucks in the 20-25 inch range. I was after the big guy. A 30 in non-typical, which I had at 10yrds at one time. He kept his vitals hidden. He stayed for about 5 min. At 20 yrds and less. Tearing into trees and grunting. I never did get a shot but feel like I was more than successful. Oh beleive me. I get it, got it, and have it bad.........
