SETTING UP LADDER STANDS!!!!!!!!!!
I have property that all we can use are ladder stands. My question is does any one put them together with silicone or vasoline or any other product to keep the sqweeks down. Does vasoline smell?

RE: SETTING UP LADDER STANDS!!!!!!!!!!
You know, I've never had a problem with having them squeak. At least while I'm up there. I just set them up and make sure there are tight to the tree. I feel if the stand isn't up on the tree properly....thats what'll make it squeak.
If your looking for a good ladder stand, I was on realtree.com a couple weeks ago and looked at an artcle on the ATA show. They had some small pics of Summits new ladder. Looked pretty cool and BIG, which is what I like. Not sure of the specifics, or if it's on summit's website. I think it was call the Mega Sampson...or something like that.
Ladder stands are my absolute favorite stands to hunt from. Easy to climb....big enough to leave there and not as easy for them to "walk away". Quiet to climb too.

I've never had one squeak on me, but I would think any type of lubricant would work to help, put it up early, and don't worry about the scent, as long as it is not too strong. Rember, your bow limbs have grease on them as well. I would think deer would quickly get used to the smell of a little grease on your stand.

We have used them for several years in all our hunts & filming. We have several singles & double from Cabelas (nothing expensive) & never have had a problem. We don't lub them either but take a hammer with when you go to take them down-they stick together sometimes.
