Default Trophy Taker Dropping Too Slow!!!!!!!

Okay guys,

Today I bought some foot spray (the aerosal can), and I was just testing to check for fletch contact. I sprayed some foot powder on the rest, and the string that attaches the rest to cable slide. Well, I shot cock vane out and I have fletch contact on the right prong of the rest. I shot cock vane down and had contact in the center of the rest craddle. Cock vane up, and I had contact on both sides of the rest! So, I don't believe that the rest is dropping fast enough! What can I do to make the rest drop faster? Shorten the cable? Lengthen the cable? I don't think that it is possabile that my arrow is moving too fast for the rest to do, but who knows?

Jason,

I wish I could help you with this one as I had the same problem with the rest. I ended up getting a bit frustrated and just took it off for now. I will probably tinker with later after I get really comfortable shooting the bow.

Maybe Matt or JeffB has a better suggestion for you.

I'm keeping an eye on this thread since I'll be getting my MM VFT later in the week. I haven't decided on what rest to use. Not to hijack your thread but what about the NAP fall away? Have you guys tried that one yet?
Greg.

I had the same problem with my 03 extreme vft and trophy taker shaky hunter. I got rid of the trophy taker and went to the bowtech factory pro-shop in eugene. they set me up with a Dalton 2000 drop-away rest, it has worked FLAWLESSLY

Buck Magnet! have you tried flipping your rest by hand to see if it's sticking or dragging a bit .What I have done to serve my string is to pull the string straight out to the inside of your down stroke cable pinch the string and slide your fingers up the cable and string, this gives you the slack that you need serve 1" above your pinch point ,this gives you an 1" of unserved string which gives you the slack that you need . I sure hope this help's this would be a lot easier if I could actually see how you have this set up .One Question......Have you been having contact all along or just recently ?

nubo,

I have lifted the rest and dropped it and it is not obstructed at all.

The cord goes from my TT to the cable slide. There is a little slack, not much at all. This allows the rest to raise to the full position about 1-1/2" from the backwall!

I don't think that I have had the contact problem the whole time. After originally setting it up, we paper tuned and there was no indication of fletch contact, as I was getting perfect bullet holes an the arrow flight looked good! Right now the flight looks okay, there is just a slightly tighter wobble in the front with the back spinning in a bigger circle! If there was contac the whole time, it should have showed up in the paper tuning! I don't know what changed this, nothing came loose, I mean, I could have had the contact, but I don't see why it wouldn't have showed up while paper tuning and why the arrow flight looked good then.

Tommorow I am gonna spend the day tinkering around with the rest a bit, seeing if I can fix it. If not, I am not sure what I am going to do. I don't know if tieing it into the buss cable will help, and I don't want to go through that hassle if it isn't going to fix the problem. I really would like to shoot a drop away on this bow, and there are a few others that I really like, the N.A.P. QuickTune 4000 and the Muzzy Zero Effect, but I am just worried about dropping cash on another rest to have the same problem. Who knows what tommorow will bring though, hopefully I can get this all situated!!!!!

When I had my shakey hunter set up a week ago the guy took the string seperated the
cable stuck the string through the cable from the inside a inch below the arrow shelf,
burnt a ball on the string end, served it in below and above the ball. He set every thing
else up with a lazer light. The only thing I had to do was adjust the pins for elevation.
The rest works great no fletch contact at all oh ya I had to put moleskin on the shelf and the arrow holder. This is on a bowtech justice.

I'm sure you know that I have a BowTech Patriot dually coming real soon but in the meantime I have another Patriot Dually here till mine show's but I put a Nap Quicktune 3000 micro tune on it ,I wanted to go with the Trophy Taker but I have been watching your posts and other's that have been having trouble's with them ,so I understand exactly why you don't want to spend the money just in case there's a real good reason for why the B/T,s seem to have problem's with drop away's .I hope this isn't the case because at some point I would like to put one on my bow,but not until we find out if there is a bad connection with the B/T and the drop away.I have mine served to the string in case this matter's but Good luck buck and I'll be watching your post's closely and I hope you get it figured out.

Jason

Try putting a little more slack in the cable so your rest doesn't raise until your darn near at your wall. The sooner it raises the slower it drops. The slower it raises the faster it drops. This should work for ya.
