scent-free water repellent...does it exist?

Amen, davidmil!!!

I use the stuff that REM74 mentioned. It is called Silicone Water Guard and is made by Atsko. Atsko also makes a lot of other great stuff like Sports Wash and UV Killer spray. Anyway, it is heavy duty. Spray it on, LET IT CURE, and it works well. It smells like heck when you first put it on but the odor vanishes.
