According to Cabela's online store, the MT050 WE parkas run about $260, and the bibs run about $220, for a grand total of around $480...which is quite a bit less than Ravenwear's $650 price tag. I think you were looking at the MT050 stuff with ScentLok, which isn't exactly comparing apples to apples, although it's quite a bargain at over $100 less than Ravenwear and with the additional feature of ScentLok.

All I can say is that I've been extremely happy with my MT050 stuff, and I've personally seen it stand tall next to Ravenwear in extremely cold conditions, and I saved a couple of hundred bucks in the process. The MT050 stuff also weighs about half of the suit of Ravenwear that you're looking at. I can't remember exactly, but seems like the Ravenwear outfit weighs 10 or 11 pounds. I just remember lifting the jacket of one of my buddies and commenting on how heavy it was. That's a lot of extra weight to me.

Regardless, it seems as if you had your mind made up before you asked the question anyway...which is certainly your perogative. You just asked for opinions, and I gave you mine. Ravenwear is really nice stuff, but if you do most of your hunting in Arkansas, it's probably overkill.

Masterbuck, thanks for the curtious response. I will consider the MT050 you describe. I haven't made up my mind yet. this was why I posed the question for readers to respond to.

i have had raven wear for about 5 years now. i got the vest for $85 the bibs for $185 and the parka for $210. this year i picked up another parka for the extreme cold(fleece) for only $100(off ebay) the others i got were purchased at an outdoor show at the raven wear booth. the set i got was not bow hunter specific. i use it for gun hunting. (i only bowhunt in october) to me this stuff is the best on the market. well worth the $$.
