Default Does the grunting stop?

The rut here has been in the " breeding phase" for quite a while now. I' ve been expecting it to stop any day, but the scrapes are still untouched, there are orphan fawns running around and I' m seeing bucks following does daily. However, now they' re not chasing the does, just walking behind them and no grunting whatsoever. I haven' t heard a grunt for a couple weeks even though I' m seeing bucks with does. Is this normal?

Its normal here as well. At this time of the season bucks will tend their does, but will soon be on the move looking for does who may be coming in to their estrous cycle. I have rarely heard bucks grunting after the main rut. Man, I cannot wait until December....around the 2nd week. Even after the first 2 firearms seasons, big bucks can still be had, although its much tougher than in November.
