little bugger, i just got in from hunting about 20 min ago, let the dog out and he came back in i was checking him for them and about 5 min later i felt a weird itch on my belly and sure enough, i pulled him right off and hes still alive in a ball jar! should i be worried seeing it was a short bite?? i get checked every 3 months and are due to get tested in january, i heard they have to lock on for like 24 hours to get you infected?? i should see if i get a bullseye???? this happened to a friend of mine bit him all night and he went on medication for 2 weeks and the bug tested neg for it so it was a waste of money,,, anyone else??

im sure to get lyme it has to be attached for 24 hours or so. also, i think its ust the femal deer tick that can spread lyme and its only a few percentage out of so many. to sum it up, its kinda hard to get lyme. although, i know a few people that has had it and i know a girl whos dog had it. i had one attached to me for about 16 hours. i pulled the little bastard out and i think i missed some of its head because the spot where it was would get irritated and itch and would scab. im talking a half inch almost inch scab square. this went on for about a year. its finally went away, its just little sacr tissue now. i talked to a doctor about it and he said symptoms of lyme would have shown already, but whatever was still imbedded in my skin would eventually work its way out. them are some nasty little things. almost as bad as snakes.

I live in Minnesota and during the summer drive my jeep alot.Every year I bet I pull out 20-30 ticks on me and at least 100 on my dog.I don' t have lyme disease either does my dog.Lyme disease is from deer ticks which are so small they are hard to see.I have never seen one myself.I don' t really worry about them to much just check yourself when you take a shower.

My Dr. said they have to be imbedded for 36-48 hours for lyme to be transferred. I had 4 of the little bloodsuckers attached to me the morning after I got and processed my doe. The Dr. gave me anitbiotics to take for 10 days. just as a precaution.

I friend of mine was bit by a tick. Since we spend a lot of time outside and get bit all the time, he didn' t think anything of it. Within about 3-4 days he noticed his jaw was kind of locking up and by the next morning his glands around his neck and jaw were swollen.
He went to the Dr. and he he gave him some antibiotics. It was Lyme disease and now he' s just fine. Lyme is only dangerous if you leave it unchecked. It will actually go into remission and that' s when people get into trouble. You think your body has taken care of it, but it' s just gone internal and will spread to all different parts of you body...that' s not good!!!!
I saw where someone gets checked on a regular basis. I' m not a Dr. or anything, but your body has a way of letting you know when something is wrong. Just my opinion!
