I will b e down near Farmville on what was once a horse farm but has been empty for a few years now... Hasnt been hunted for around10 years or so is what I am hearing...my neighbors foather bought it and moved on there a month or so ago... he sees several groups of does at different times of the day along the back edge of the old arena... he also sees 4 different bucks along the back edge, one at daylight, one around mid morning and two in the evening within 45 minutes of each other... should be interesting to say the least!!

went out today to check on an area that i have not hunted for a few years, plenty of sign, few rubs and one scrape. first time i ever had to scout with a chainsaw, four large trees had blown down over the road, took me a few hours to clean that mess up, but the landownder appreciated it.

been cutting wood, splitting wood, stacking wood. Buying a wood stove (found lots of dead oaks that had fallen and are ready to burn). doing projects at work, getting ready for out of the country guests. Helping wife paint kids room. in the last two weeks Hunting has taken a backseat to everything else. opening day I' ll be in Hanover county on the edge of a horse farm Saturday morning. Hopefully my chosen tree is still standing. it' s gonna be a totally different hunt than I scouted for a month ago.
