Default drags? scrapes? boots? come on...it never used to be like this

hey folks,
its been awhile, i' ve been out hunting all season, and i just got a bunch of new scent from rush creek deer lure....sposed to be some pretty good stuff!...well i can' t figure out how i wanna use it. should i use a drag? put it on the bottom of my boots? on some sticks out where i hunt? what should i do? i have doe in estrues and buck urine...which one would be the most effective for the late rut? i' m in minnesota and the ruts been going for a good 2 weeks now and i' m sure its gonna be over soon. theres forcasted storms on sunday and i plan on hunting all day saturday, if i can manage to keep my butt in the stand that is. help me out. and its good ta see yall again! Well, if you' re going to use it and the rut is still going or just ending and for the next month or so... use the doe in estrus. Make a drag, hang some wicks, shoot straight.[:-]

I' d drag the doe in estrous using a drag rag, then put out scent wicks around the stand in some shooting lanes. Maybe even dribble some of the buck pee around too. I' m going to use doe in heat urine only and not buck pee this weekend with hopes of getting someone' s attention. Problem with the end of peak rut is that the bruisers will be resting staying in their core areas while the younger bucks may still be out trolling - if they smell dominant buck urine, they may not come in. If the big guys smell doe, they too might be interested rather than being interested in fighting. That' s what I' m counting on this weekend anyway. Check out TR' s posts on hunting the late peak rut and resting bucks.

hey guys thanks for replying...i was havin problems there...but i' ll probly just use a drag cuz there ain' t many big bucks where i hunt so i don' t think i' ll use any buck pee if or when the second rut hits...which should be around 3 weeks from now...thanks again.

I do 2 or 3 drags in towards my stand for 100-150 yards with estrus pee. It can be great fun to see a buck strolling along then hit the trail you made and watch him turn and come in. I usually start near my stand and go out in a ray then keep dragging as I go over to another trail and then head back to my stand. This way I have a continious loop with two trails connected together. This way if a buck starts following one trail the wrong way he will be forced to loop back my way.

As far as second rut remember they don' t all go in heat at the same time, the first rut is a little spread out over time. The does who do not get bred will go back into estrus 28 days later. So 28 days from the beginning of the first rut the second will start.
