New/used 2017 compound bow & arrows (FREE!)
#1
I saw Colorado Luckydog where he made a post about a new bow string, and nobody replied. ...Sad. This forum used to be hopping back in the day!
So, let me try and create a post and see if it gets some interest - probably not as much as on the 24hr Campfire or on AT (Archery Talk)...
A while back I was trying to make a joke on social media (Facebook) about nosing around Cabela's. I ventured into their archery dept and joked about all the compound bows, and even the traditional stuff (recurves). Righthanded, righthanded, righthanded, righthanded, etc... I joked about discrimination against lefties.
Anyway, an old USCG buddy of mine sent me one of those popup Facebook messages... "Hey, uh, you know.... I got a little something you might be interested in"....
2017 Mission by Mathews Hype DT LEFTHANDED compound bow, Victory Decimator 350 arrows, a couple Beman ICS Hunter 400 arrows, and four 100gr Slick Tricks!
I asked him if he was serious and what he wanted for it. Completely blew my mind --- FREE!!
Then, sadly, he went into a brief bit of tragic medical issues and things.... Mini stroke (which damaged his left arm/shoulder), heart surgery, stents, etc... and that's when the cardiologists had to tell him, "You're done..." and that was the end. He said he and his son dialed the bow back down to 50# and he still couldn't draw it back, so it just sat around collecting dust!
I can leave it at 50#, 29" draw, and practice with the Beman 400 spine arrows, and get myself back in form after probably 15 years, almost 20 years. Once I'm steady and accurate, I can tighten the limb bolts evenly and crank it back up to 60#, 65#, and use Victory Decimator 350's.
Anyone remember these? Wow.... I am still speechless!!! It needs nothing and is still absolutely perfect as is!

Very nice bow Butch ! " Happy Mothers Day To You !!! "

. ( Just bustin your arse )
That was not a cheap bow when it was new . And even now used with all the goodies to go with it ! Sorry to hear about your friend's health issues . Sounds like he is headed to buy a Crossbow !
I know having a bow adds another season for deer hunting that is great . I have a bow but haven't gone hunting with it for some time now . But what I cant understand why people HAVE TO have the latest and greatest bow bow so often . Some get a new bow every year or two because the new one shoots 3 feet per second faster so they can be cool and say they have one !
Then their old bow is considered junk and they sell it at a year old for 30 percent of what they paid for it if they are lucky ..
I'll buy guns over bows any day of the week ! Most times that gun 5 years later is worth more than when you bought it new .

LOL.... Thanks. I took it up to Green Top last week (after it arrived) and they checked it all over, and -even they couldn't believe it- that it's still in excellent condition!
It's been described as "everybody's bow" as it is so incredibly adjustable. 18" - 30" draw lengths (1" increments). 15lb - 70lb draw weight. Max IBO speed: 310 fps.

...Sad. 286 "visitors" in the Bowhunting sub-forum, and NO REPLIES. Back in the day, my post about my new/used compound bow from my USCG buddy would have 6 pages of replies all about details, the best broadheads, the specs about it, draw weight, draw length, etc... The best arrows and arrow cut length to use for the bow's particular setup.
Colorado Luckydog was right in his post a few threads below...
