Went out hunting yesturday right after school got up in the stand and set up by 3:45 i was sitting there for a while kind of dozing off i was tired but then the squirrels were drving me crazy and i wanted to shoot something so bad so i drew back and shot juss missed by a hair darn that sucked so i got down and retrived my arrow it being about 4:30 now i knock all the leaves away from my bait pile climb back up in the tree and wait again i see the squirrel again about 15 mins later i was thinking do i take another shot or no all of the suuden i hear a deer off to my right i slowly turn and there it was about 17 yards away i dunno how it snuck up on me must have been into the squrirel lol anywayz i see it so i am waitng my hearts pumping really fast all of the sudden it looks up at me i am like ohh no this isnt good but it looked back down and just minded its own bussiness well after that i was really excited i was about to get down now since its getting pretty dark then all of the sudden this other doe comes out of no where and runs straigt to my bait stops behind to tree i am thinking draw you idiot but i couldnt it step to eat and i was like now its time this is my chance to shoot it i try to see my pin but i cant its to dark i was mad but it was so cool they were so close the secound one was aobut 10 yards away and didnt even know i was there which was awesome anywayz i watched it eat for about 20mins and then it left and i left it makes it all worth while sitting it the stand when you see deer hopefully i wont focus on the squriels so much and tomrrow i can get a shot off at one of them. sounds like you had a good time, if I may suggest that you get away from the bait pile and set up where the deer are coming from that way you will see the deer well before it is so dark you can' t see your pins to shoot.

Your story just goes to prove that any experience with a deer in the woods can be exciting. I cannot tell you how many times I have just sat back and enjoyed watching various deer without even thinking about shooting one. It is a trully satisfying experience.

yes i did have a lot of fun in the woods everytime i go i exprience somehting new bowhunting is awesome its way better than gun and they aint spooky the dont even know you are there thats what i think is the coolest thing in the world

Sounds like you had a great time. It' s not always about getting the shot. I went out this evening in 20 mph winds gusting to over 40 mph. Was sitting there thinking this is stupid there aren' t going to be any deer here today. After about an hour and a half saw movement to my left at about 20 yds. Bow, Binos or Video?!? Look through the binos and it is a little button just browsing. Couple of minutes later there are two more buttons show up with him. So I sit there for 20-30 minutes watching 3 buttons eating and playing. Never saw another deer and didn' t touch my bow but it was a great evening in the woods. Except for the darned wind[:' (]
