Default deer health?

I saw a small 9 point buck this weekend with a large black growth on his side just in front of the left ham. Does anyone know if this should be a health concern for the deer or deer herd? I observed the deer for sometime and he appeared to be doing fine. Any thoughts?

I think you saw what quite a few others have been seeing.

" Cutaneous Fibroma"

This is the name of a wart that deer get. It is black and hairless. Look it up on the net. I found a few pics of it.
