Cardeer hurt
Thats the bad news. The good news I finally got a deer after 5 weeks. Friday morning went out at 5Am. Seen nothing by 10. Had to go home and let the dog out. Got back in the stand around noon. All of a sudden 2deer come running past me and they were looking back. Here comes a buck I noticed it was limping in the rear. It was broad side at 10 yards. I let a bolt go out of the x-bow and the x-bow limb broke and kicked back and hit me in the head. I felt blood running down my head and the deer was hit high ,amazingly the bolt actually got there. I got up went to the deer and had to finish it off with my knife. I then noticed the deer was limping cause there was a arrow in its butt. I was really bleeding ,so I called my dad on the cell phone. He is 86, but phyiscally in good shape. I laid down and waited for him to get there. He helped me out of the woods and took me to the hospital. 47 stitches later I was on the way home. He went back and drug that deer 1/4 mile to his truck. On the way out a hunter who shot the buck that morning in the butt gave him a hard time and wanted the deer and made the mistake of swinging at dad. Dad is a x cop and a black belt.I was not there but the neighbor said he beat the crap out of the guy. Anyway I' m home and the deer is at the butchers. No pics taken, but it was a average 13 pt around 180 lbs. What a year!!!!!!! And Nancy arrived in Germany safe ans sound. She sent me a e-mail and she was out on the street giving out tracks and witnessing for Christ. What a Women.

RE: Cardeer hurt
GO DAD, GO DAD......
There' s nothing cooler than hearing about an 86 year old whoopin' arse. One time, an anti was harrassing my dad and was poking him in the chest and I sure wish he woulda' been a blackbelt. I heard the commotion from a couple hundred yards away, but when I got there, the anti was cresting the hill. Dad was sitting on a stump thinking about parting the anti' s hair with a 12ga. Sabot. Get yourself healed up cardeer. I' m glad you actually went to the Dr. this time....probably wouldn' t have been a good part to do an " at home amputation" BTW, how' s that toe? |
RE: Cardeer hurt
My toe ? it aint there .Remember I cut it off. It is hanging around my neck on my necklace. What else do you do with a bad toe????
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
sorry to hear about your head...congrats on the deer, you got any pics?
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
This was not the kind of luck I was trying to send to you cardeer. It was sapose to be ALL good. Not the good news-bad news kind! I am glade that it wasn' t worse though. I can' t imagain how it could get any worse but at the rate that your year is going you could shure find a way.
You really should write a book! You could put things like but it was a average 13 pt |
RE: Cardeer hurt
congrats on the deer, hope your injury gets better quick. How about

Congrats on the deer Cardeer,,Hopefully you broke your black cloud! I think I broke mine Friday morning also.. Hope your injuries heal fast and dont effect this years adventures!! I would have loved to have been a bird on a limb and watched your dad whip some butt!!! Get better soon!!
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
Glad to hear you were not mortally wounded in your quest to get your deer. I am sure 47 stitches to you is just a flesh wound. You hunting adventures are amazing. A little frightening, but simply amazing. Hope you heal up soon.
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
You shot a 13pt. buck, got wacked in the head and then your ol' man kicked some ass! You know, you don' t beleave a story like this from just anyone!:D
Congrats on the buck, tell your dad good job for me, get on the phone and tell that company to send you a new crossbow, and I hope your head feels better!;) |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Didn' t I read a thread from you a while back stating you missed a deer several feet high? Do you think that may have been an early warning your limb was about to go? Ever figure out what happened on that earlier miss? Hope you feel better.
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
My, my, my...cardeer your secret is safe with me. [:o]
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
...your average 13 pt. At this point, I wish I could bag an average doe!
That' s a bummer about the limb breaking. Congrats on the deer though, even though it was just an average 13 pt. Guess you had to take it though considering the deer had an arrow in him. As for your Dad..... wow. That is cool!:) |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Say what? I think you should start publishing in the fiction category. Don' t get me wrong I love the story. Very entertaining!
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
This smells badly of a whitetail you once shot that wore a set of mulie sheds. Too bad you couldn' t get any photos of this one. Are the rest of you guys that gullable? Wake up folks.
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
swinging at dad That guy deserved everthing he got from your Dad. Good for him!!! |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Cardeer,
You' d be a hoot around deer camp! |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Cardeer,
I was gonna say " you' re lucky you didn' t lose an eye to the xbow limb" but with the year you' re had, you' re lucky the ' yotes didn' t get ya after you laid down. Hell, dad would' ve kicked their asses. too. Congrats on the " average" 13 pointer. It took me 4 years to get a 13 pointer - an eight pointer, a spike and a three pointer!!![&:] Willy |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Cardeer,
Glad to hear you weren' t hurt worse. Tell Dad way to go;) Hope you get some pictures of that average 13 point:D Take care and get well. |
RE: Cardeer hurt
Ok, let me get this straight, you shot a average 13 point, your crossbow blew up causing you to get 4 dozen stitches, your 86 year old dad dragged it out after beating up another hunter, and you cut your own toe off and wear it around as a necklace? I don' t know about everyone else, but it seems perfectly normal;););)
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
I definately want to see some pics!
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
I don' t know why cardeer' s story is so hard to believe....
One year I fell out of the stand and landed on the bow - arrow went through my hand, so I cut it off and put it out for bear bait. All the while my poor dad was trying to gut his deer in the next 40 when two punks tried to steal his deer. My dad is also 98 years old and has been a golden glove boxer most of his life. He beat the living daylights out of these punks. Then tossed the average 13 pt. he just shot over his shoulders and walked a mile in the snow up hill, with no boots on!!!! Actually. That didn' t happen. Sorry cardeer, had to poke a little humor in there. I think it' s a shame your bow busted and hope to see the pics of that buck.:D;):D |
RE: Cardeer hurt
fletch....you only have 6 posts on this MB...how do you know about the mulie sheds????????????? That happened last year! Something mighty fishy here and it is beginning to smell really bad.
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
Think fletch is actually cardeer hiding in the headlights doing a little fishing?
|
RE: Cardeer hurt
Wolfen and Bob, I have visited this site regularly for over 2 years but very seldom respond. Usually only have time to make a quick scan of the days events. Please dont confuse me with Cardeer. I' ll never have that much imagination. I enjoy the stories and am always amazed at the number of people that seem to swallow them whole. I guess P.T. Barnum was right. I might be a fawn to this board but I do have 24 years of bowhunting experience from Southern Texas to Norther Quebec.
