What are my chances of calling in a buck?
I' ve been hunting out of my stand in a hedgerow next to a cornfield. The farmer came in and tryed to cut the corn but it' s too wet for him to get it all cut. There are ears of corn and silage everywhere he has cut.I' ve seen between 14 to 20 doe everynight come into the field 30 to 45 minutes before dark. The does come in from all sides. My problem is I have not seen a single buck and only one small rub.I know my stand is between the cornfield and where some of the doe bed. There' s not just one bedding area, they can bed down on 3 sides of the corn field.Do you think the buck are waiting till it' s completly dark before they come out? With all of the doe, what are my chances of calling in a buck?Would you try a doe call or a small buck grunt call?If I have not seen any buck, would I be wasting my time trying to rattle them in?Thanks for any advice you may be able to give me.

To be honest you are going to be in the best spot you can be in once the rut kicks in, you won' t even need to call, but if you do, I would use a doe bleat.
