awsome hunt tonight
about 6:00 four doe jumped out of the bushes about 7 yards on the other side of a tree and a bush i was using as a natural blind, then about 30 seconds later the rest of the herd started spilling out, about 12 total. they were milling around, and kept glancing back in the bush where they came from. i could hear more deer behind me trying to find a route out into the field (very thick stuff behind me, could only see maybe 4 feet into the bushes in bare spots). in fact one was so close i could see its tail slip by. about a minute later, a very big deer jumps out. again, strange looking ears. thats because it was a BUCK! not the same one i saw last time either. it was a long spike on the left side, couldnt see anythign else on the right. the buck was in the mood for some lovin' . he started chasing the doe around right in front of me. i couldnt draw becasue there were to many eyes watching. he finaly chased a group of them back into the bush where they came from, i guess they wanted some privacy. there were 4 left standing in the field about 20 yards on the other side of the blind. they started milling around and one started towards me and angled into my shooting lane, getting closer and in the open. so she stops and looks the opposite way about 7 feet awy from me. i was afraid at the slow pace she was moving if she was directly in my lane she would spot me for sure, so i decided to try and punch the arrow through a few twigs. im telling you this thing was so close, all i had to do was draw and let go. there was no way i could miss. so im wearing one glove on my bow hand becasue its cold. leather makes a sticky noise when you have a grip on metal. i rememebered a tip from a buddy of mine as i was drawing the bow, " try to remeber not to use the the death grip with your bow hand." as i was drawing i moved a coupel fingers to ensure a proper grip, glove makes a sticky pop, doe turns and sees me, jumps back into the bushes. as the great thinker mr. homer simpson would say, " DOOHH! so tomorrow morning im going to get some fleece gloves. its just a matter of time!
i forgot to mention, about 10 munites later a red fox comes sneaking through the field. i think it was a red fox. it was about the size of a large cat. had a grey strip on its back and the rest was orangish red. pretty cool looking. i was gonna stick it but i had no reason to. i dont think fox is edible, is it?

It sounds like an awesome hunt alright!
Did she blow at you or just jump into the thick stuff? I hope they dont' get smart on ya!
I love it when they show up at last light. At 7 feet, maybe a spear would work better?
Good Luck

Dude sounds like it is just a matter of time before you connect, Ill be sitting by the phone. Watch those little twigs, it only takes 1 leave or twig to mess with the flight of an arrow. Grunting and bleating seems to be working real well this year, one of these days rattling will actually work for me. I had a rack buck 15' away bedded down in the corn tonight, walked up on him on my way to my treestand, all I could see was 1 antler moving back and forth. Got an arrow nocked and my release on just in time for the wind to switch and him to get up and take off. Tommorrow is the day, wind out of the southeast and cold.
