Default Sight pins and ranges

Last night I was reading a new " Whitetail" magazine that I picked up at a newstand. There was a great article about sight pins and the best setup " to get your trophy whitetail" , and blah blah blah blah....

On my old PSE Edge 1000 lefty bow, I have my Tru-Glo 3 pin sights at 10-20-30. That is great for me. I can nail the bullseye equally at 10 just as I can at 30. The best that I always practice with is 20 yards. My middle pin is what I always find myself practicing with in the backyard. Anyway, this article went on to say something like the common sights for bowhunters are 20-30-40, and that by using a closer range pin, you' ll shoot under the belly of the deer more times than not - somthing about the arrow hasn' t reached its trajectory yet.

With me have a 10 yard pin, think about it.... Imagine being 30 FEET from a deer! Man, that is CLOSE! [] Does anyone use a 10 yard pin? Then again, I am comfortable with my 10-20-30 yard setup, and know exactly where each pins odd range is (15 yard, 25 yard).

Or is this a case like Tazman told me once, " hey if it works for you, leave it. If it ain' t broke, don' t fix it!"

I use 1 sight pin that' s sighted in at 25 yards. It works well for me.

I use two pins and set that third pin down and out of sight. My first pin is good from 0-25 yards. Basically, from 0-15 I aim just a tad low and I hit the mark every time. Mentally I have to remind myself that 15 yards and closer I have to aim just a bit low. Anything from 16 yards to 23 or 25 I use that first pin dead on and I hit my mark. The second pin is sighted for 26 yards to 30, but I am not confident beyond 25 yards just yet. Plus, almost 80% of my shots tend to always be at about 15-20 yards anyways. Where I hunt I don' t have many chances to shoot beyond 20 yards.

Isn' t the record 63 or 64?????

So I don' t shoot that far. LOL

I explained once this year I have never taken the 60 Yard shot on a whitetail, but I am consistent in the kill zone at 60 on the McKenzie Targets. So I' m not scared to stretch the yardage.
