Hey all, first year as a treestand hunter here (was ground every year before this year)
Anyway, what do you all use to hold all your stuff in the stand? Like I have seen those belts that go around the tree and stuff, and ez hangers and things like that, but I am on private ground, and don' t won the trees, so I hate to go screwing stuff into the trees, and it seems like the belt would be a hassle.
So does anyone know where to get, or use, some sort of fanny pack or something that straps to the treestand?
Also, what dol you do with your quiver? I have an on bow quiver, and would love to take it off, but I got nowhere to put it.
What brought this on was on wednesday, trying to fit everything into the pockets of my pants and shirt before i started up the tree (backpack straps, grunter, scent, gloves, release, etc) and having my hips look like a squirrel with cheeks full of nuts.

I hunt private land here in NJ and the walk from my truck to some of my favorite locations is no more than a 20 minute hike. This is what I carry in with me:
Bow with quiver attached, release, full safety harness already on my person, safety rope in my pocket, stand attached to my back, flashlight in my mouth or hand, knife on my belt, cell phone attached to other side of waist, and whistle around neck. So, I am packing pretty light right now. When and if I get a deer, I usually find myself remaining in the tree for 10-20 minutes, then packing my gear up and heading back to the truck to unload all my cargo except for my knife and dragging rope.
When the rut comes into action or shotgun season starts and I am in the woods all day, I carry a backpacking bag, similar to those old book bags. This attaches nicely to the back of my stand for easy hiking and I attach it to the upper part of my stand with a clip for when I am elevated so I can get to my drink, lunch, etc.
Basically, try to figure out what you REALLY need to carry in. You will be amazed at how many unecessary items you are packing. After some 7+ years of bow hunting, I have learned to travel light and efficiently.

It depends on how much " stuff" you bring...I started out with a fanny pak but moved up to a back pack. I have a clip on it so I can attach it to my portables and keep it out of the way..

I used to carry a small backpack, but it got to be tought to have that and my climbing stand strapped on my back. This year I decided to try a fanny pack instead. It works great. There are some dandy ones on the market. I purchased one from Cabelas for under $30. It has seven pockets and enough room for my knife, GPS, flashlight, gloves, scent, binos, rope, grunt tube, and urine container. And I still have room left. Keeps it all nicely out of my way but close at hand. And it doesn' t hinder my movement.

I went back to a Kwickee. I mounted an extra bracket on my hand climber that puts the arrows real handy and yet out of the way. If I' m hunting from something else I have a screw in bracket I stick in the tree to put the arrows handy. I have one of the belts that goes around the tree but usually just use a couple screw in bowholders to hang my pack(whether it' s my backpack or waist/fanny pack) and binos from. I have a little ditty bag hanging on the other side of my hand climber that I keep a bottle of water in and my range finder goes on top of that. Grunt calls go around my neck and inside my shirt.

Fanny/hip pack - knife, rope, mini-maglight, Tink' s stink bombs(3), small roll of marking ribbon, binos(small), urine container (20 oz empty coke bottle)
Sometimes includes Face mask, licenses, grunt tube, FRS radio, ammo (rifle season)
That is all the essentials I wrap it around the tree when I am in the stand to not make any additional noise.

A buddy of mine gave me a very nice NWTA turkey vest in payment for helping paint his house. This thing is great! It has about a dozen pockets, plus the rear game pouch (for big items like warm gloves, hat, socks, rope). Everything fits, and most things have their own pocket so they don' t rattle together, I also know where each item is, so I don' t have to dig around for it. It also has a thin pad for your back which helps when leaning against a tree, and a removable butt pad which I usually keep on for added padding while on stand or if I decide to move to a ground blind it is very nice to have. I still carry a fanny pack with me because I always hated having a quiver on my bow, so I use the fanny pack belt to hold my Kwikee on as a hip quiver. I can take it off and hang it from a branch or my stand when in a tree or on the ground as well. I' m thinking about dropping the fanny pack in favor of a regular belt now that the turkey vest has all my stuff in it.

I have a nice Cabela' s fanny pack in Advantage Timber that get stuffed with everything I can think of throwing into it. When walking into the woods, I carry my Ameristep Grizzly climber on my back and have the fanny back turned around so it' s on my gut.
