I bought a Bowtech Extreme VFT, 28" draw and a couple dozed 2413 Easton shafts and practiced my but off since June and I' m very happy with the results. However, I do question the shaft choice I made. I have experimented with 100 and 125 gr. broadheads and think the 125' s group better. The result is a pretty heavy arrow. Am I missing something obvious by using such a setup?

I' m hunting with 2315' s and Muzzy 115 grain 4 blades out of my Pat Dually. I' m getting 254 fps with the bow set on 65 pounds and 29 inch draw. These arrows actually weigh 540 grains and make the bow very quiet. This set up will shoot into the same hole out to 40 yards, accuracy is absolutely great and my single pin hunting sight marks are not much different than those I had for my 460 grain arrows. 77.38 foot pounds of K.E. means dirt and blood covered arrows!!

No you are not missing anything. Shoot the heavier heads because they are grouping better. Thats the main thing at this point for you. It' s only a 25 grain difference and the heavier arrow is not a bad thing at all. You will carry more momentum and the difference in speed will be very minor.
Hey Walks...Your setup sounds awesome.
540grains at 254fps...Holy cow!

Well, I shoot a light setup in my VFT, GT 5575 weighing in a 367 grains and moving at a snails pace of 306 fps. I intended to go with a heavier setup at first, but I got to shooting so good with these, I decided not to change. I also can' t imagine this bow being much quieter than it is, but I' m sure it' s possible.

I am shooting GT 5575 XT RT camo 28" arrows with 100gr RM gator XP broadhead pushing 290fps. You can get them cut, and fletched from Mountain archery for around $60 + shipping. Total arrow weight around 395gr. KE is 72llbs, plenty for the Gator XP mechanical. Shot a 8 point last friday @ 20 yards. The arrow completely passed thru both lungs and stuck inthe ground 5" , the deer piled up 30 yards away!
