Well man I just lost all respect for you because of this. You are saying that losing deer is a part of hunting and can' t be avoided.[:@][:' (] This proves you really have no respect for the animal which you pursue. NO, this won' t happen to everyone that hunts...and anyone who thinks this doesn' t belong in the woods with a weapon. I' m sorry but this post is just nausiating[X(][X(]

That is good. Now remove the bloody heart with the hole in it, and you' ll begin to lose the sheen on your utilities.

That, as you have inferred, is clearly not what " deer hunter 21" is saying. Don' t apply a Dan Rather spin.
He is clearly not indifferent to the loss. He is simply insinuating that the " self-righteous" need to board up their glass houses. I interpret his statement that losing a deer is part of hunting; not to mean that you definitely will, and, therefore, you just smile, have a drink of water, and reload. He means that deer WILL be loss and it can happen to anyone. He is totally correct.
Do not put so much emphasis on the term " everyone." He was generalizing in a forum, not uploading critical data into the space shuttle.

I am just dumping' in your mess kit.
In the Marine Corps -the Ol' Corps, the Marines wore dark OD green " utilities" (combat bd' s) that had a sheen to them. You could always spot a recruit (boot) by the " green and the sheen" on their utilities e.g., new issue.
As time wore on, the green would fade and the lighter color and the starch streaks became a symbol of time-in-grade. It was common for ' cruits and those having little time in the Corps to advance the fading by various means. As long as it was simply a visual judgment, the Marine might get away with the deception. However, once he attempted to talk-the-talk and try to walk-the-walk, he gave himself away and blew his ruse.

I will let you explain before I respond because I may be misunderstanding you.

I hope some folks know how to eat crow when and if the time comes !!!
I have an idea.........let' s all never tell anyone that they did something wrong because it may hurt their feelings and we wouldn' t want that. It is much better to have a ton of deer running around with arrows sticking out of them in every direction then to hurt someone' s fragile ego.
If you lose a deer because of ignorance on your part you should be ashamed of yourself.......it doesn' t take that much effort on your part to prepare yourself for what happens after you shoot an animal. All you can do is know what the right thing to do is and have the patience and will power to do it when the time comes.
You may still lose a deer........we all take that risk when we pull back on that string.......but at least the chance of you losing one goes way down if you are prepared and know what to do afterwards........if it still happens you can at least take comfort in the fact that you did everything in your power to prevent it.
You could sit at this forum and in one hour of reading be pretty darn prepared to find your animal if you made a good shot.......and you will know what to do if you didn' t make a good shot too. Is that too much to ask someone to do BEFORE going in the woods and flinging broadheads at live animals??

Me and my two parnters tracked a doe for two days. She was hit in the ankle by my friend. we had very little blood, at times none. We had always seemed to find some clue when it looked dim. as much as a scuffed up leaf. But we kept on her to tire her out and try for a good shot. she kept going to the steam to cool the leg. in the end found her walking in the steam again.cut upsteam quick and finished the hunt.
Don' t give up on a such an animal we love and admire so much. You need to finish the fair chase. If you don' t it is not far to the animal. This creature has lived only shortly and shurly enjoyed his life in the wild. he has been challaged by weather, periditors, illness, and Man. he needs to be Honored, not left for Coydogs. Please try again. just think of the story you will have for to tell when you find him.
