I just hate it when you take the time to get in the woods extra early, and the deer are already out of the fields, and where you want to be.
Do you think that the moon has anything to do with it ?

Happened to me this morning too. I was at the base of my tree starting the climb when I heard them coming in from behind me. I got up quietly though and didn' t spook them. Had 12 come through and heard a couple of bucks fighting in front of me but didn' t see them. Would say it turned out to be a good morning!!

Of course they beat you to the woods, they live there!
Sorry I couldn' t resist saying that.[>:] I have jumped a lot of deer over the years both going in and leaving my stand. Not much you can do about it except keep the wind in mind when going to and leaving your stand.

One of the areas I hunt, your not allowed to hunt from the ground, have to be in stand or arrows must be quivered. I jump them all the time at this location. They are used to it because as soon as you get stand set up you will see some more. I try to make it in as quitely and quickly as possible. Once they settle down they will move back in. Or they do at this hunting area.

Happened to me Saturday evening. I was helping some of my friends put the finishing touches on their stands and was late getting to the woods. There were already 2 does at the feeder. Took then about 1/2 hour to leave.
