Unfortunately, we find these iiots everywhere!
Most of these people are too lazy or too " busy" to practice, but always find the time to get into the field and hunt! If you could call it " hunting!"
They always have to shoot something, or at least shoot " at" something! They get their gun or bow out the day before the season starts and take off for the woods.
As I said they are too lazy to practice and are usually too lazy to look for game if it doesn' t drop on the spot!
I hunted a lease a few years back, where this guy in his 70' s would walk the lease roads and shoot at ANY deer he saw at ANY range with a .22 Hornet!
These people really give sport hunting a black-eye!
These are my biggest peeves, shooting too small of a caliber and stretching the range of a bow, not practicing and not doing all you can to recover game!
While I hate more buracracy, maybe mandatory hunter training would thin out most of these idiots and preserve the sport of hunting for those of us who appreciate wildlife and are true hunters!

In Jersey when I took the Bow hunter safty course back in the 70' s all you had to do was answer the questions correctly. Now at least you have to shoot and be able to hit something although I don' t recall the exact criteria, maybe someone can jump in here. My furthest shot was 38 yds, clear shot and right on the money. I was young an foolish back then and now wait for a closer shot which just sometimes doesn' t present itself. I know a 38 yd shot is alot easier for me than a 5 yarder but I prefer 20-25.

Im with Rack-Attack here you should hang out in an archery shop the entire week before bow season starts, you can see so many idiots. The day before is just insane, people get out their 20 year old UNTUNED bows that havent been shot since day before season last year, their arrows ranging from 27 inch 2012s all the way up to 32 inch 2219s and cant figure out why they dont group[:@][:@]but it is always good enough to them. Just last week the day before season a guy came into the shop that had never shot a bow. He bought a bow and had it set up, but at 20 yards he actually had trouble hitting a 3x3 target. Then he had the nerve to say " If I can get one within 30 yards tomorrow Ill put him down!" It just made my skin crawl. I told him he needed a little more practice and he disagreed, that dont help us any.

I do agree that the man bubba74701 mentioned doesn' t really need to be caring a bow around shooting at live animals (or dead ones for that matter). No doubt as the topic evolves it is obvious that most of you have experience folks like this in the deer woods.
I recall a day of hunting on National forest land where two men were sitting approximately 50 yrds apart, one on each side of the deer trail facing one another and they were hunting with shot guns. A really small doe came out and they started shooting it. The doe was almost directly in between them. Althought it wasn' t sensible at all to be shooting in each others direction it was also a bucks only hunt. Stupid...very. But would I throw rocks at them from an elevated level as I chastised them for their actions. NO. They had guns...what good would rocks do. I just called the Game Warden. I don' t know if they caught them but they knew which direction they went in.
Regardless, as I read the posts here I see that in this thread many of you deemed the guy as a complete IDIOT. Well I agree. However, maybe we should just shoot at him at around 50 yrds and see if we can get a tuff of white hair. Or the next time we see someone in the woods like this we should wrestle them down and break all their arrows. Or maybe run over their bow with a truck. Or maybe just kick their ass. Or maybe do our duty as sportsman and let them know as Arthur P did that they are responsible for the image that all sportsman should try to protect. I have learned one thing in my short 32 yrs of life and that is influance is more powerful than one may think. We can talk all we want about how dumb this guy is for shooting at deer at 65 yrds with a bow or shooting deer with a .22 hornet but until we really start putting these people in their place the effect will be null. How do I know? Many years ago, I did something very similar to what the man did that bubba spoke of. My father led me in the right direction. Now I only shoot once. If I miss that is because I didn' t wait long enough or I didn' t wait for the right shot or maybe I waited to long but one thing is for certain...the deer damn sure wasn' t at 65 yrds.
Just a thought.
