Carbon Clothes and Scent Wafers
#1
Well, I bought into the hype and went and bought Scent Blocker pants and jacket. The thing is, when i used to wash my old camo, I would wash it, dry it w/ earth scent dryer sheets, and stick it in a air tight back with earth scent wafers.
I did this with my new Scent Blocker stuff. Then i got to thinking... I am totally defeating the purpose by putting scent wafers in w/ carbon clothes that are supposed to absorb scent.
Am I right?! Will the scent wafers saturate the carbon and render it useless?

PAHUNTER21,
NO! you are not defeating the purpose! The carbon suites are designed to adsorb the odor from your body, not what' s on the OUTSIDE of the suit.
The biggest problem I see with anyone trying to remain scent free is most hunters never go all the way. They will wash and store their clothes, equipment, etc. MOST do not complete the job by keeping your scent free products from contaminants like; gasoline, camp fires, breakfast, trucks, etc. etc. etc.
If you want to remain scent free, store your gear in storage bags, put them on after you get out of your truck and take them off and put them back in the storage bags before you get back into your truck and contaminate them!
Good luck to you this year and if you do all of these things, I promise you will be more successful!

Panhunter, for years I did exactly what you do. I washed my clothes and stored them in plastic bags inside big Rubbermaid containers with the fresh earth wafers inside the bags. It worked prfrectly. A few years ago I started using Scentblocker suits I I have 2 scentblockers and 1 scent lok). I e-mailed robinson labs ( maker of Scent blocker) and asked them if it was ok to store them with the scent wafers and they wrote back and said absolutely not. They said that the best thing is to store them immediately after use of after reactivation in a clean bag with no scent. They said that the pores that catch the scent molecules will fill up consiberably faster if stored with any type of sent rendering the suit less effective quicker. I stoer it that way and then spray my boots heavily and the rest of me lightly with Fall blend spray and I am still getting as close to deer as always. So I guess to answer you question, you will be reducing the suits effectiveness by using the wafers. That came from robinson labs, not me.
I must agree with Dalejbrass that many guys fail to complete the job in trying to be scent free. It amazes me the guys I know that will wash the clothes and take scent free showers, then put on all their gear, hop in the truck, stop at a gas station or restraunt, smoke on the way out etc, and then get mad because they got winded and they feel they did everything right. I won' t wear the clothes that will be on me while on stand ( except underwear) on the trip out. Once I have had the no scent shower, I won' t hug the wife or daughter or pet the dog!! They understand. Then none of my clothes come out of the cntainers until I am outside the Durango and ready to hunt. Be sure to wash the towel that you will be drying off with also. Makes no sense to take a non scent shower then wipe off with a perfumed towel. I know that I am very obsessive about it, but I get real close to alot of deer every year so I know that it works. Good luck this year!
