RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
i have my top pin sighted in at about 15 so its an inch or so high at 10 and an inch or so low at 20, then by 30 yards i had enought of a gap to get my other pin in the second track with enough space to see between them. My brothers bow is shooting one pin out to 30 yards, we sighted it in at 20 and thenr realized it was a tick high at 10 and a tick low at 30....wish my bow was that fast, we are using the same exact arrows/length

RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
Im shooting a 432 grain arrow about 275 fps. I use a moveable single pin sight with one setting @ 25 yards and the other @ 40. I can easily shoot to 32 yards with the 25 yard setting and if I think I may be shooting farther than that (rarely) I just adjust it to the 40 yard setting. I get too confused trying to look at all those pins in the heat of the moment. Most of my shots are 25 and less so all I have to do it put the pin behind the shoulder and ler it rip.

RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
My sight does have 2 tracks.......I am not worried that the pins will be touching. It' s just that they will be right on top of each other and I......like others have already said feel very comfortable shooting " gaps" instead of pins. That is why I am contemplating just having the top pin for 0-20 and then one more pin at 40........any shots at 30 I will shoot the gap between pins.
I WILL NOT shoot at a deer over 30 yards away......period. So maybe I should just go with one damn pin and just aim a couple inches high if I need to. For every shot below 30 my one pin should be well within the kill zone. Hmmmmm I better make a decision pretty damn quick here ;) |
RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
ahhh the problems we face with speed. life was so simple when the arrow flew slower. it reminds me of the days when i shot my 3006 a lot. it was dead on at 25 and 225. but about 2 inches high at 100. never could figure how to mount the extra scope for that distance between 75 and 150. would have apologized for being 2 inches high to the deer but they were already dead.
seriously you should be shooting flat enough that life just gets simpler like the guys are saying. the kill zone is roughly the size of a paper plate. 2 high or low less than 30 yards won' t make huge differences. will it? |
RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
I' m shooting a VFT and I' ve shot one pin to 30yards all year in 3-d shoots. 72lbs and a 370 grain arrow. From 1 yard to 30 yards there is only a very small diffrence in my point of impact. This has done wonders for my confidence and score. I hope it carries over to the woods this year!

RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
I' m shooting a VFT as well and one pin works well for me. I won' t shoot a deer past 30 yards either.

Timber Ghost, how fast are you shooting with that set up? I would believe it has got to be smoking.

RE: Question for guys shooting 270 fps or more
Atlasman: I shoot between 280-285 and solve this problem by shooting a Sight Master adjustable sight now I have 1 pin and have marks on my sight that range 20,30,40.
