Default Hey Buck Magnet...

You' ve been posting some sweet buck picks. What' s your secret? What do you look for in a place to set up your cam? Near bedding, feeding, or between?

If you can transfer your ability to position your camera for your butt this season, you' re set...

Hey Rangerball,

Thanks for the comments.

As far as setting the camera up goes, it all depends on the location.

One set-up I used was on a trail that isn' t really between bedding and feeding routes at all. It was just a strip that was cut between pine trees and the big woods. It is just an easy area for deer to move through so that is the reasoning for that position.

Another set-up was right at the edge of the woods where it leads into a cornfield. There was a bunch of trails comming together in that spot and it looked good so I set it there.

These new pictures are from a set-up located on a trail between thick bedding and a funnel in the woods. The funnel leads down to another patch of thick bedding which is surrounded by clover fields that the deer forage in.

I just go with my gut feeling. I try not to think too hard about where I am setting the camera up. I just act like I am a deer, take a walk in the woods and find a trail that is easy to use and is well used, then just put the camera on it.
