When you were looking for a new bow, what were all the bows you shot? What were your impressions of them? I know you were seriously thinking about the Dyna Tec, Razor Tec, and of course the Mighty Mite. Were there many others you shot?

Hmmm, I was looking at some of the new Alpines, but, the dealer was ignorant and he seemed to be charging too much. I checked out the Mathews lineup, and, like last year when I shot them, I thought that they were great bows, but, they just didn' t feel right to me. I was looking at the 02 High Country' s, I looked at some of the new Martins, and the new Brownings.

The DynaTec really appealed to me at first because of the grip. I really thought that it was a more comfortable grip than the RazorTec, until I got to looking at them more and shooting them more. Then the RazorTec' s grip grew on me fast.

Then, I had it down to the RazorTec and MightyMite, and the MightyMite just fit me better, along with it being more evenly balanced. It didn' t have as comfortable of a grip as the RazorTec, but, the grip is still MUCH better than my MT Sport had, and, the draw cycle isn' t as smooth, but, then again, what single cam can compare to the Cam and a Half system.

The Patriot was one of, if not the nicest shooting bow that I shot, but, it has the long riser which just doesn' t feel right to me. The one I shoot had the balance problem corrected by using a small doinker in the rear-mounted stabilizer position. It was the most quiet and shock free bow that I had shot. But, pricey (but I guess all new bows are).

The new Browning Eclipse' s and Mirage' s didn' t appeal to me at all. I thought that they were really really lacking when it comes to a smooth draw, and the construction of the bow wasn' t all that good, in my opinion. My friends Browning Tornado, in my opinion, is a much better bow.

I know I am leaving some bows out, but, I gotta get ready for work.

I really have to agree with your comments about the Browning Tornado. I had the opportunity to extensively shoot one the other day and I must say that I am impressed with the low noise level, total lack of recoil and vibration and the super smooth draw cycle. I am really surprised that this bow did not become more popular....and considering the price especially with one all setup..I just do not see how a person could go wrong.

The Tornado is one bow that I' ve looked at. The price is really good and the ATA is about perfect for me, but I' ve been shooting a bow with a 7" BH, and I really want a loooong BH. I' ve had days of stacking arrows at 35 yards, and others where I couldn' t put all of them in a 6" circle at 20 yards. Something about my shooting form. I' m hoping a linger BH will take out some of my inconsistencies.

The Tornado feels like it has a much bigger brace height than it actually does. Last summer my friend and I shot our bows beside each other alot. His Browning Tornado and my Hoyt MT Sport. His Tornado was rated about 20 f.p.s. faster than my bow, it is something like four ounces lighter than my MT Sport was, and, my MT Sport had a 8 1/2" brace height compared to the Tornado' s 7 1/2" brace height. The Browning shot exactly like my MT Sport. It was so smooth and forgiving. It is a great bow, and I would suggest it to alot of people.

It is kinda amazing that the Tornado never really took off. It is in my opinion one of the top bows for the buck. I would say the top 3 bows for the money are the Browning Tornado, Martin Tracer Magnum, and the BowTech Stalker. These are all good performance bows, but are VERY easy on the pocket compared to most of today' s bows. The Tornado just stands out in this group though. It has the true Browning quality in it. The grip is very nice (I actually like the rubber with wood insert than the all wood grips on the upper end Brownings). The bow is a great average axle to axle length, it is smooth, quiet, forgiving, CHEAP, and still plenty fast enough.

My friend was getting 2" groups out to 40-45 yards with his Browning Tornado without it even being close to being tuned. He ordered new strings last year and had them put on at my previous bow shop, well, the guys somehow messed up his arrow rest (it was paper tuning perfectly), and, he had 1/4 difference in the distance between the sting and the limb pocket on the top and bottom limbs. This bow wasn' t even close to being tuned properly after he got his new strings, but yet, he was still getting AMAZING groups. O yeah, those are with his N.A.P. Thunderhead 100' s. Granted, he is an AMAZING shot, but, there has to be something said about his equipement there.
