I had rather be lucky that good! I had three chances at the same deer one afternoon. Just wanted to know if anyone else has ever experienced the same thing.
Once I had a deer come in right under me. Before I could get a shot he darted off to about 20 yards. I had a vine between me and him I had to shoot over. The arrow went right over the top of his back. (I thought at the time.) Being mad at myself for missing I got down and headed to the truck. On the way out I was checking to see if I had any activity a another spot. I heard something and saw a deer running. At first I though it was running away but it was coming at me. I knocked an arrow and he stopped and turn broadside at about 10 yards. I shot right over the top of him again! A little shaken I guess. He jumped one time right behind a bush. I knocked another arrow got to full draw and waited. He stepped out and I nailed him right behind the shoulder and he dropped in his tracks. I put another one through his lungs just to make sure he wasn' t in shock. When I inspected the deer I discovered that I barely broke the skin on my first shot. I killed him about 250 yards away from where I first saw him.
I hate that I didn' t get him the first shot, but it sure made the trip to the truck alot shorter.

Honestly ,not me. I hunt from the ground ,only shoot 20 yards and high pertcentage shots only with a crossbow and never needed more then one bolt to kill a deer. If I miss one at twenty yards and they come back ,they have to be retarded, considering the loud thud the crossbow makes and I have to put the crank on to pull it back again. I doubt any deer is going to come back. Two years ago I had a buck 125 yards before expiring.the average is usually 30 to 50 yards.
