CatskillHunter:
That one you mentioned about a guy spearing a bear sounds like fun. Can you possibly find the title and production company on that video? I'd sure like to see it.
We've been thinking about just such a hunt ourselves, but maybe from a ground blind rather than a tree stand.
Bow Fanatic:
Do you know the name of the production company that produced "Brown Bear Men"? This is another movie I would love to see.
Can't never get enough of brown bear archery hunts!

Than, If the video about spearing bears is the one I saw it was called "Out on a limb" with Dick Embry. It was really an infomercial type video touting the swivel limb treestand that included a number of hunts.

I like the Dan Fitzgerald videos because they show the bad along with the good. Like arrows falling off of rests etc. He will also take any sized deer, not just monsters. I also like Drury Bros. because they show the misses as well as the great shots.

I have to say that Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures 1,2&3 are all excellent. Informative and entertaining videos with great scenery and some unusual hunts. As well, his Hunting Giant Canadian Whitetails info video is full of good info and riddled with humour. Ted Nugent's Spirit of the Wild Series are all interesting and entertaining and have the best sound tracks for sure.

I think the Drury tapes and Altizer videos are okay, but my favorite videos are the ones I make of our seasons. I get much more enjoyment out of reliving my two brothers and I taking any deer (does and bucks of any size) on tape, than I ever would of watching someone like Bill Jordan killing a world record on film. There is just no connection there for me. Those types of hunts are not what I experience, and not typical of 99 percent of hunting done in the US.
It requires that we each sacrifice a little hunting time each year to carry the camera for one another, but it's worth it. I actually succeded in filming myself kill a buck in ML season, from a ground blind, and a bow hunt from a tree stand.
We do kinda like a video journal of each season. Each hunt has a prelude, in which the hunter gives the date, time, season, and description of the area, leading up to taking the first few steps up the tree. Then the camera fades out, and resumes once up the tree and settled in.
My grilfriend and barber said it looks just like Buckmasters, only better because they know the hunters. If you can, you should try it. It makes the memories of past seasons much more vivid, and fun to watch.

I absolutely love the Drury Brothers videos. I met Mark last year and he is a steller guy. My 3 favorite deer videos are, in order,
1)Dream Season
2)Whitetail Madness 2
3)100% Wild, 100% Fair Chase
3 favorite wild turkey videos,
1)Longbeard Madness
2)Longbeard Madness 2
3)Field of Dreams
I am totally addicted to hunting videos, almost as bad as hunting. Can't have too many.

Great idea...I'm working on that now, and kick myself for the hundreds of hunts that I didn't even so much as bring a still camera on.
Have any of you seen an old movie called "Tahara" (Don't quote me on the spelling)?
This was a filmed archery excursion throughout Alaska, starring the then national champ, Bill Jordan (of Jordan's Carpet infamy).
In this feature length film Bill and his companion, using traditional gear, arrowed everything from ptarmigan on the wing, to beluga whales!
I had a friend/mentor, now deceased, who was involved with this film. Wish I had secured a copy!
If anyone has seen it, and/or knows how to rent or obtain it, please let me know.
