Whisker Biscuit and Mechanical Broadheads!!!
Hey, I am thinking of changing to a whisker bisuit rest. I am an average shooter, meaning I practice but, will only be hunting, no competition or nothing like that. I am more interested in a reliable hunting setup than something that will knock a deer completely down. With this rest in mind, would anyone give me some suggestions on the broadhead to use(Mechanical or Fixed). I know I will get 6 of one and half a dozen of the other but it is worth a try. Also, do mechanical shooters just trust them or is their a way to practice them?

Before I recomend a head I need to know your exact setup and if you know it your Kinetic energy. The more details I have the better I can give you my opinion on a good head.

I shoot a Hoyt HavocTec w/ a 62 lb. draw weight. I shoot 100 gr. mechanical NAP Spitfires on 400 gr. Behman ICS Hunters through my Whisker Biscuit and this setup is great. I do find that the biscuit wrinkles and eventuall tears vanes, but other than that, I love it and plan on using it for some time. Hope this helps.

I am shooting a WB with 100gr Rocky Mountain Gator and Snyper mechanicals. I am shooting a Bowtech VFT @290fps @72KE w/290gr 28' Goldtip XT 5575(390gr total). You need to chrono your bow after you get tthe WB installed. If you shooting 260fps or below I would look at shooting fixed broadhead. Anything higher than 260 IMO fixed BH can plane on you. I am a fairly new bowhunter so other guys with more experience on this forum can steer you in the right direction.

tnichols,
I' m shooting the WB at 280fps with a G5 Montec. I have had no planeing problems with my set up and I have shot it in quite windy conditions. I also have had no problems with Muzzy' s. I do shoot 5" heilical vanes though...
Cottonfarmer, If you plan on shooting deer with a max distance of 25yards like many of the guys here do, You should be able to shoot a fixed blade head 100gr and put holes though both sides. I am kinda sold on the cut on impact concept so that' s why I went with G5s.
Good luck.
